What We Are Looking For:
SHA is currently seeking a Maintenance Mechanic Lead/Supervisor to oversee and manage the maintenance operations across all SHA locations. This position plays a critical role in ensuring that all maintenance activities are conducted efficiently, safely, and in compliance with HUD regulations and SHA policies. The Maintenance Mechanic Lead will supervise maintenance staff, coordinate repairs and preventive maintenance programs, and uphold SHA's commitment to providing safe and well-maintained housing for residents.
The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, technical expertise in building and facility maintenance, and the ability to train and mentor maintenance staff. This role requires proficiency in HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and general maintenance, as well as the ability to prioritize tasks, manage work orders, and ensure compliance with housing quality standards.
What You’ll Do:
- Lead, supervise, and mentor the maintenance team to ensure the timely and effective completion of maintenance tasks.
- Oversee maintenance operations across multiple SHA properties, ensuring compliance with safety standards and organizational policies.
- Implement and manage preventive maintenance programs to maximize equipment performance and facility functionality.
- Ensure compliance with HUD regulations, safety guidelines, and SHA standards in all maintenance operations.
- Coordinate with property managers and staff to prioritize and schedule maintenance requests efficiently.
- Manage inventory and supplies to support uninterrupted maintenance operations.
- Provide training and professional development opportunities for maintenance staff to enhance skill sets and service quality.
- Conduct property inspec
tions to assess maintenance needs and ensure regulatory compliance.
What You Need:
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree preferred.
- Journeyman certification in plumbing, electrical, or HVAC required; Master certification preferred.
- 5-10 years of experience in building or apartment maintenance, including supervisory experience.
- Valid Florida driver’s license and ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, drive a pickup truck or van, and meet agency fleet insurance requirements.
- Skills & Qualifications:
- Extensive knowledge of building and grounds maintenance, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, painting, carpentry, and renovations.
- Strong leadership and supervisory skills with the ability to mentor and train staff.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple maintenance requests across properties.
- Proficiency in interpreting blueprints, sketches, and maintenance reports.
- Knowledge of HUD housing quality standards and maintenance-related regulations.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, for interacting with residents, staff, and contractors.
- Ability to analyze information from inspections to determine maintenance needs and quality of service.
- Commitment to workplace safety, with knowledge of accident prevention and OSHA regulations.

Pay: $24.00 - $30.00 per hour
